Wolf Tones

"What is a 'wolf' and how do I get rid of it?"

A wolf is a tone inconsistency that causes a break in the sound of a particular note. Most cellos have at least one wolf, whether it is slight or very strong, and that wolf appears on that note no matter which string it is played on. Many wolf eliminators are on the market - from the on-string factory metal tubes with rubber insulators to custom made and custom installed eliminators available from your local expert luthier.
