Surgical Tubing (sorry for the repost)
Now there's a controversial
topic.
First off, sorry that I neglected copying down the
information but could those of you who know where I can get surgical
tubing that is used on cello bows, can you repost that
information?
I tried a new bow today if it feels very
different to me without the tubing. It plays well, but I'm so used
to the tubing and how it helps me to hold the bow without tension in
the right had that couldn't do a good comparison unless I had
it.
So now I need to buy some.
TIA

Question re Tubing
So, what dimension does one buy for
use w/a bow?? Am assuming the dimensons on the chart are for
"inside" and "outside" dimension.

correct
size
I have three bows, and they all have
a slightly different diameter at the frog and throughout. I suggest
you try to measure your stick where the tubing will go, and get a
tubing interior size a bit larger than that. Smaller may be really
hard to get on.

Surgical Tubing
Okay, I'm a little slow today, so I
apologize. But, where and how exactly is the tubing used? I've
'heard' references to it here before, but I must have missed the day
when everyone really talked about its uses. Can anyone please
elighten me? I'm sort of intruigued now that Paul mentioned playing
with less tension in the right hand. TIA!

where
to put the tubing...
A person could make up some really
funny answers here, but the serious answer is you slide the tubing
over the bow stick near the frog. This gives you a much "stickier"
gripping surface for your fingers, and thus more control of your
bowing. There is no hard and fast rule -- just make your bow feel
good to you personally.
