Strings?
What might be some good strings for a deep, smooth sound?
I'm not looking for a sweet sound, just something deep, dark almost.
eek, hope that makes sense.

Have you tried Pirastro Chorda? the more baroque, the better.

strings
pirastro chorda gives the cello the sound as original as possible. No other steel/nylon string will give you so much overtones and noble sound. By the way, they are relatively cheap.
