ziegeunerweisen music?
Somebody mentioned Feuermann playing
Ziegeunerweisen(sp?). Is there a cello transcription of that? If so,
where is it available? While I'm on the subject, is there a cello
transcription for the Carmen Fantasy? (the famous violin one, not
the one by Buxton Orr, which I have, but really don't know the
themes in it)

Re:

Werner-Mifune has published an
arangement of the Ziguenerweisen. Feuermann's recording is only the
firt part with some cuts(perhaps the second half was intended and
never recorded or lost). It's tricky but a lot of fun. It was
apparantly common for cellists to play thier own transcriptions-
Piatigorsky references this in his autobiography.
There is no
carmen as yet, but somewhere I sense Thomas Werner-Mifune
transcribing as we speak.

Zigeunerweisen
Any ideas where to find that
transcription? Do you know the publisher?

Actually, there already is a Werner
Thomas-Mifune arrangement of the Carmen Fantasy for 5 cellos. I got
it in Cologne last April.

Oh, ok, is it Werner Thomas-Mifune
(not Thomas Wener-Mifune or Mifune Werner-Thomas)? Who can
remember...
How is the Carmen? Is it hard?
