Renting
a Cello in Australia
My daughter is studying in Australia
for one semester, she is there now. She did not bring her cello
because she thought she could rent one over there, NOT. HELP! The
local high school does not have a cello, there is no music store in
the are to rent one from and she was only able to "buy" one in
Melborn. She has a nice cello here at home, she doesn't want to buy
one. Can you recommend a source for her?

Re:

Hi, why don't you have a look in the
Yellow Pages ( www.yellowpages.com.au/
) or CitySearch ( www.citysearch.com.au/
) and search for musical instruments. You could visit Ellaways ( www.ellaways.com.au/rental.asp
), but theirs is 6-month minimum, which might be too long. I wish I
was more help, but I live in Queensland, not Victoria (I'm assuming
she's in Melbourne at the moment), and I don't rent either... If
she's planning on taking private lessons, maybe she could look for a
teacher that has a spare instrument she could rent?

Re:

There is a store in one of the
Melbourne suburbs called Music Boutique that I've had great luck
with. The owner is named Stephen Zachariah (not sure of the
spelling, this is spelled phonetically) and he should be able to
help her out.
