Toscanini/NBC 1953 Enigma Var- cellist?
Just heard this- some awesomely
beautiful slides in the cello solo. Would that have been Frank

Besides the Enigma Variations, are

Other
Miller recordings
There's a Brahms Double with Miller
and Mischakoff and Toscanini/NBC. There's a Don Quixote with Miller
and Toscanini/NBC. Also, a Haydn Sinfonia Concertante with
Mischakoff, Miller, Sharrow, and the NBC oboist, with Toscanini/NBC.
ALL are currently available from BMG.
Miller can be heard on
the Reiner and Ozawa Scheherezades with the CSO, Giulini's CSO
Mahler 9, Reiner's 1962 CSO Zarathustra, and on Solti's CSO Enigma
Variations....to name just a few.
He appeared in Chamber
Ensembles in the LP era with the New York Piano Quartet on Mercury
and Columbia and recorded clarinet trios with Kell and Horszowski
for American Decca. These items can be scarce.

The Brahms Double is also available
on video. It's an amazing performance.

Re: A

It's in the Toscanini series, volume
3, RCA Victor Gold Seal, 60334-3-RG. Maybe Gary knows where you
can still get it. I'm not sure.

Re: A

I only occasionally see these videos
at Tower stores, etc. The laserdisc versions are long gone, but VHS
copies do pop up on occasion. I'm not positive that they're still in
print. You might want to check the Tower or Amazon web-sites. Good
luck. All 10 Toscanini/NBC telecasts are revelatory----especially
the Mozart 40, Dvorak Symphonic Variations, Wagner Tannhauser
Overture program----White hot from start to finish!!!!
