Why do
you like the cello?
I used to play violin and I HATED it
and finally got to switch to cello (boy do I remember that day!).
The other day my grandmother was asking me why I felt that way. She
has a point--there really isn't a whole lot of difference, and yet
there is... Anyway, I figure, to be here most of you must love the
cello at least as much as I do--why?

I love
it because...
It is so versitile. I know other
instruments are that way too. The cello has a rich color of sound. I
love the deep tones and the high tones. It is very mello and
soothing, depending on what you play. And, the world can never have
too many cellists. I love it!! ~Mel

Re: Why

Hmmm... that's a good question. I
like it because after seven years of flute, anything is better! I
like it because it's tactile, because you can just feel the wood
vibrate, watch the strings respond. I like it because it's in the
middle and because it isn't something lots of people play. Never too
many cellists, right!!

Re: Why

I LOVE just watching the strings
vibrate. sometimes I'll spend 15+ minutes just plucking the strings,
or bowing them very slowly to get it moving, and then draw it
accross the string as fast as I can and then just put the bow aside
and watch the string vibrate. My favorite is the G, since it seems
to be the most responsive yet is thick enough to keep vibrating on
for some time, whereas the A stops rather quickly.
I love the
cello just because there is a wide variety of sound and style
depending on how you play (and what brand strings you use, what bow
you use, etc.) It is deep enough to get that majestic booming bass
sound, yet can also be played higher for a more melodious and sweet
tone. I like it because you generally have to sit down to play.
true, there are ways to play it standing up, but not very
comfortably. after 6 years of percussion (which I still play, by the
way) it's nice to play an instrument that you MUST sit down for.

Cello
Love
I've asked myself this question
before, and the only reason I remember starting was so I could get
out of math class in forth grade. I had to pick one of the stringed
instruments, and the violin seemed too whiney and scratchy, the
viola seemed dumb, and the bass seemed boring. The cello was the
best choice. And I agree with matthias24 about sitting down. It's so
natural. Besides that, I got some attention from the girls. That
made it all good. Steven

Like to cello. Its more like love
the cello. In third grade I played the violin and I hated it. The
violin is too squeaky and the pitch goes so high. I hate that Im
more into deep, full sounding notes. Another reason I love the cello
is because its big and powerful. Now im a sophmore and the more
advanced music you get into the more you love it because you get
into the powerful parts. I thought about playing the viola but they
dont get those moving parts like cellos do. I guess thats why I love
the cello.

Because....
Actually, I tried to play violin
first, but the fee of playing violin is too expensive and I lost
interest in playing violin, so I try to switch to another instrument
later, and now I find that the fee of playing cello is cheaper, so I
play cello and later I like cello.
