meaning of elegy/elegie
Hi,
I would appreciate it very much if someone could tell me the proper definition of "Elegy" or "Elegie" (?)
Thanks!

Re: meaning of elegy/elegie
Elegy or Elegie means song of lament or an instrumental composition with that suggestion. Most are written in minor keys in keeping with the sad element and they also have fairly slow tempi.

Re: meaning of elegy/elegie
from an English teacher:

A lament says "I am so sad because they died!" while an elegy says "They were so wonderful!(brave, noble, etc.)
