Stringworks
So since everyone has been raving
about the Artist line of stringworks cellos I decided to spring for
a virtuoso. BUT it
seems there is this loooooooong waiting list to get one. Like 3
weeks for an artist or virtuoso. And I called up lovely Pat the
other day and she said I may have to wait even longer! I'm
beginning to get a little restless and wonder if I should look
elsewhere. Does anyone know of cellos in the $1000-$1500 range that
are of the same alleged quality?

Only three weeks? Consider yourself
fortunate. I recommended a violin maker to an inquirer, and she
finds she is on his waiting list for early 2002 - probably a year
and a half.
If something is "worth waiting for," it really
is!

I'm more than likely going to go for
the Artist, but it's really neat that every time I do a Yahoo or
Alta Vista search, I find some other place I never hoid of that
seems to have some nice instruments. There are lots of places out
there that will have similar instruments.
http://www.woodwindbrasswind.com/
seems to have some good deals out there.

Hiya
Sounds like I just beat
you to it. Mine (my son's actually) is on its way according to
UPS and ought to be at our (Canadian) border point for pick up in a
day or two.
But, it's kinda like going to a really good
restaurant....good things take time to prepare and are usually
worth the wait. I know you are probably really anxious to get
something now (is this a guy thing?) but I find that I have to
slow myself down and take the time to find what I really like and
want. I hope you fing the instrument you really want. Maybe it's
like beer....you have to taste a lot of them to find that special
one.
Enough philosophy for a saturday....good luck with your
search.

Re:

You could try www.violinsetc.com. I
found them to be very helpful and they seem to have a good amount of
stock on hand. The last thing I ordered from them I had within a day
(go fedex). As to your price point, it's a little low to get much in
the way of quality. That's why the Stringworks cellos are in such
high demand - more bang for the buck. Good luck!
