Re:
Prokofieff
Stefan,
In that second
movement, it's true there are lot's of tough passages. But don't
neglect the moments to really sing!
The second theme reminds
me of a sunrise. Think of yourself as the sun rising higher and
higher until it is in full glow.
Find some really good
fingerings and bowings so the line is always continuous and flowing,
not choppy. You should sound like your bow is 1 mile
long.
Try to practice vibrato on EVERY note, even if you
don't end up playing that way. At least you'll have the experience
and familiarity of playing vibrato on each note (so you can if you
choose to do so in the future).
Make sure your sound is even
at all bow changes and string crossings. They should be
imperceptible. No one should be able to tell if you are at the frog
or the tip. No one should be able to tell when you changes strings
or bow. Just sing and flow.
Have fun and congratulations on
playing well at your lesson!
