Lucky
enough for Slava, Ma, Harrell?
Slava's playing with the VSO in
December. i know Ma and Harrell are playing too, just not sure of
the exact dates.. Anyone in the Seattle, Vancouver area lucky enough
to get tickets for those concerts..? i know there are some peepz
from Vancouver, some familiar names come to mind..
For someone
like Slava, who knows when his very last concert will
be..

Who knows when Slava will retire.. i
mean, if everything goes smoothly, he will, at one point of his
carrer, retire in a formal fashion. but then, consider Slava's age..
he's not young any more and let's face it, a little misfortune is
all it takes to bring him out of playing shape.
Not so long ago
in NY when he played the Dvorak, he didn't look all that sharp..
Thus my point being, you never know what his last concert will
be..

if i gave you the impression i'm
spreading "doom, gloom and pestilence", i apologize. Certainly
wasn't my intention. Straight out, i love Slava and his playing and
i know even when he stops playing, i know his legacy will live on
for many more years to come. But do i expect Slava to be playing
forever? Hell no. It'd be wonderful, but that's just not what's
going to happen. Let's face reality. One day he's going to stop
playing. Do we know when that will be? Does HE know when it will be?
Only God knows. i was just trying to give myself more reason to go
to that concert.
