Live
performance connected me to divinity !
Hello, I just came back from my
teacher's piano trio concert. Although I have listened to the piece
(Beethoven's AchDuke) from CD before, I did'nt feel like it.
However, hearing it lived, I felt overwhelmed by the live
performance, hence, the title of this post. Strangly, after the
concert, I began to like the piece when I listen to the same CD. I
think technology can never replace the spirit of real music. I
wonder anyone has the same experience as mine. And to those of you
who are professional musicians, you are doing a lot for
humanity.

......doing a lot *to* humanity. (?)
And as
much as I can, too!
Indeed,
nothing can beat a live performance. The number of concerts I attend
(to listen) is more than the number of CDs I listen to. My CD
listening is mostly for things outside of the usual canon of concert
repertoire. (Like Stock?!)
I recall hearing the Chicago
Symphony String Quartet in 1978 when they came to play at my school.
I was blown away by the Debussy Q4, which had not been very
compelling to me up until then.
As a player, I didn't have a
high regard for the Mahler Symphonies until playing them in the
Houston Symphony. Though bordering (at least!) on the excessive,
Echenbach's interpretations really made the pieces work for
me.

Re:

Thanks for correcting my poor
English. I am afraid there will be no response to my post because of
my writing skill. More thanks for sharing opinion. I also
believe that when we play, we can get more in touch with the music.
That's why I came to learn cello.
By the way, those cartoon
icons are cool. I will try to use them next time.
