Re:
Klier
Hello Alex80
For my comments
on Klier (Wilhelm Klier) please see the string started on 9-29-00
entitled "Instrument Comparisons". My reply is "DBlake" Also MGatoff
(Mark Gatoff) would have some pretty interesting comments for you.
There have been many other strings in the past on this cello if you
want to search for them. He is the person who first got me
interested. I talked to him several times on the phone too. He did
alot of leg work checking out many different makes before settling
on the Klier. I did not have the time or persistence to repeat his
type of search and sent for one based on his recommendations. I am
very happy I did. Need any further comments from me, let me know.

Klier
Alex, What size 'cello are you
playing? At what level are you playing? What's your budget
(instrument/bow/case)? What are you looking for in a 'cello? Is
'investment value' or playability more important? Rank looks vs.
sound quality. I'm glad DBlake is happy with the Klier he
purchased - especially after our many lengthy conversations! We're
very pleased with ours, still, now 1+ year later. Based on your
requirements, we may be able to offer some direction. We visited
Potter's while attending the WCCIII (as well as many other dealers
and luthiers over the past year) and have some further impressions.
If you'll reply, perhaps we can help. Regards, Mark
