cello
and clarinet duets
Hi cellists, I am a cellist and
my best friend is a clarinetist. We have been searching long and
hard for some duets to play together (but our search has been in
vain). All that we have found is Hindemith's Musikalisches
Blumengartlein and Alan Hyams' Prelude, Blues, and Fugue (which is
written for B flat clarinet and bassoon). We are searching for
something a little more melodic in nature. My friend has no problem
transposing, however it would be nice to play something actually
written for our two instruments. Has anyone ever had this problem?
Any of you know of any pieces? Any suggestions are greatly
appreciated! Thank You! ~Rachel

Clarinet and cello
There is a Beehtoven Clarinet, Cello
and Piano trio that you can try, I'm probably going to do it on a
recital next fall. I understand that you have to recruit a good
pianist, as that's the part with the most heat. Good luck.

Re:

The sonic combination of cello and
clarinet is amazing!
I vote for BRAHMS, trio in A Minor -
Opus 114, written for piano, Cello, and clarinet. Of course, you
need a fine pianist to help you do this one.

Yes, more links. Frank Music Co.
lists 4 pieces for clarinet and cello. There is a Mozart piece that
looks promising.

Phyllis
Tate
Phyllis Tate has composed a sonata
for cello and clarinet. It is dedicated to William Pleeth. I
recently played the finale in concert, but havent played the whole
sonata. Finale was great fun, anyway - and not the
easiest...
