The
Perfect Lesson
Last night was far and away the most
productive, effective lesson in my 6-year cello journey. Both my
teacher and I were "on" and really clicking together. Whatever she
said, there was immediate understanding AND execution on my part
(not the usual 5, 6, or more tries)! Wow---I've never had a night
like this one!
We covered a huge amount of territory
concerning sound production and tone. All we worked on was the bow:
placement of the string, sinking into the string, up/down bow
changes, and on and on it went. For the first time I was
consistently finding that "sweet spot" on the string and drawing a
big, lush sound out of my cello.
By the time I left (after
nearly 2 hours), my mind was rapidly turning to mush. After the
hour's drive home I was exhausted. But I sat down and wrote out all
we'd covered, lest it all evaporate overnight.
Boy, talk
about a jump-start out of my recent slump! I can't wait to get out
of work today and go home and spend the weekend
PRACTICING!
Just had to share with the CBN family.
Joyfully,
Janet www.nese.net

Re: The
Perfect Lesson
That's great, Janet! The "immediate
understanding and execution" on your part shows you have reached a
point where you are really ready to incorporate these things into
your playing, and I bet it will really show in the next weeks and
months.

Hi Barb! Good to "see" you! Hope
everything's going well with you. How'd it go with that teacher you
were trying out last summer? Still taking lessons?
Blessings
to you...

My
lessons
Hi Janet,
I was hoping to do
a lesson a month or so, but due to schedule conflicts and the
holidays I haven't had one since ... was it October or September?
Anyway, lesson number 3 was scheduled for today but the flu has a
grip on our family, so it will have to wait once again! At this rate
it will take me a few years to get over the lesson
nerves!
