First Concert Jitters
Hi All
I would like to ask everyone to have positive thoughts this Saturday evening. The "Doctors Orchestra" is having its first concert. Here's what we're playing.

Grieg: Orchestersuite Op. 46,
Sibelius: Karelia-Suite Op. 11,
Schubert: Unfinished Symphony

Rehearsal last night was shaky. The church sactuary is a cavern and the acoustics are bad, there is no space and the orchestra is spread out. The concert could be great :) or a disaster :( .

If anyone on this board lives in or near Houston and would like to attend, e-mail me and I will send you the E-flyer.

Somehow the adrenaline kicks in and the shaky spots are solid. Don't ask me how. I'm nowhere near Houston, but I can certainly relate to first-concert jitters, and will definitely make a note to think of you guys at the appropriate time (which for me is Eastern Standard). Have a great time!!!!

Concentration kicks in too and you forget about being nervous. You'll be fine. Be sure to write back when it's over and tell us how it went.

Re: how did it go?
My worst fears did not come true. The concert when off without a hitch. The hall was packed and we sounded the best we have ever sounded in the three months we've been rehearsing. The comments from folks I invited were from pleasantly surprised to amazed. A lot of the credit goes to our conductor's dedication and talent. Thanks to all for your support. We start rehearsing for our spring concert next week.

Concert Jitters
To Paul,
3 WHOLE MONTHS between concerts !!! What a luxury. All my orchestra gets between concerts is 6 weeks - it's a grind sometimes.
