Belcanto Gold C -re. cost of string
I see what you mean. Although the
cost of a set of Belcanto Gold strings at discount is comparable to
a number of other sets, the tungsten-wound C string is about 30%
higher than a similarly wound Spirocore and about 40% higher than
the tungsten Obligato. The other Belcanto Gold strings seem to be
cheaper than the competition. I have found the Belcanto Gold C
string to be especailly responsive for a C string.
I don't
know the basis for the pricing policy, it would not keep me from
using the strings, but I would likely shop around for the best
prices.

I don't know, either, but I am
having the same experience as Andy - by far the most responsive C
I've ever tried. Really wonderful. Beautiful, rich sound on my
cello, too. I also went the direction of the set.

Laura, come Monday, you'll be able
to try of my cellos, one with all Belcanto gold, one with Belcanto
Gold A and D strings, and one with none. Andy
