College Auditions
Hello, I have two auditions this weekend for Cleveland Institute and Eastman. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how a college audition goes, like how they pick scales and stuff. I would like to find out ASAP.

Thanks

Re: College Auditions
It will vary by school, I'm sure, the exact procedures. Assume that they will ask for ALL of the required music (make sure you have a complete list!). I took four auditions for music school and I was never asked to play something all the way through, usually played the first page of the concerto, have a Bach movement, etc. Don't worry about repeats, etc; unless they specify, just play as you normally would at a recital. I was never asked for scales/arpeggios, but I was asked to play a prepared etude.

In general, just keep to the golden audition rules:

1) Make sure you have a complete list of required music.

2) LEARN ALL OF IT, WELL.

3) Play what they ask for, and keep in mind they know you're nervous... they are not looking for perfection but rather for the potential for perfection.

4) Relax, play well, enjoy yourself.

Good luck!!!

Laura
