Re: Cello and

As a novice cellist, and a one time bike racer, and someone who's
34, my general opinion is that we as people worry too much and
should just do what we want to do.
Go ahead and have fun.

I'm not a doctor yet, but i don't see anything wrong with swimming
and playing cello. You being phsically fit from swimming can only
help your cello playing. I agree with bridge. You're young, don't
worry so much. Have fun and keep doing what you love!

swim
My college teacher recommended to me that i swim twice a week (he
swims every day)...it's good for building healthy shoulders and back
muscles, which are really important for cello playing. Something
about being in water keeps the whole body more natural and relaxed
too. (too bad that for me that swimming=drowning)

some cellists
swim with their cellos...
Here is a photo of a cellist swimming with his cello... I
wouldn't recommend this unless you have a plastic one...

Leave it to Dr. Cello to find that one!

Dr. yet? My wife is a resident. Good luck in your endeavors. It
seems like a really rewarding career, but MANY hoops to jump
through. I've been along for the ride since Post Bac Pre Med and
Kaplan MCAT review classes.

Re: Cello and

My cello deosn't like to swim. It makes him lethargic. (for
weeks) But I did read about a strad violin 'The Red Diamond'
(?) that went swimming, and was eventually, successfully dried
out.
