Roger Malitz
Roger Malitz, a former student of Karl Fruh and former Principal Cellist of orchestras in Caracas, Venezuela and South Africa, has died at the age of 53. A terrific cellist and a genuinely funny guy, he most recently has been teaching at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. He will be greatly missed by his family, students, and many friends. If memory serves, there's an article about him under professional cellists on the ICS left margin bar.

It's a shame
Roger was a really great guy. I played with him in the Caracas Phil, and ran into him several times after that. He was a nice guy, and could really play the cello well. I'll miss him.
