Earplugs whilst
practising?????????
Hi I was wondering whether anyone could recomend some earplugs that
make things quieter without making things sound different. I've
tried wax ear plugs but they distort the sound so that I'm not sure
what I'm producing. I know I sound really fussy but my ears are
quite sensitive (I'm in agony if I go to a club) and the cello is SO
loud. I don't want to ruin my hearing but neither do I want to lose
a big sound by playing quietly...any ideas?

You can buy custom musician earplugs from an audiologist or hearing
aid dispenser. The plugs are acoustically tuned and offer uniform
attenuation. There shouldn't be a change of pitch. Everyone's ear is
different so you have to get the earplugs fitted to your ear. They
cost over $100.
I found a website this has pics of them and
some info. www.hear-more.com/musician.htm
