Britten Cello
Solo Suites -
Does anyone know where I can order them?
I've been playing
them from old copies from my college days, when the copying
technology wasn't very good - so I've been playing them mostly by
memory for a while.

Have you tried Petelson's or Frank Music Company?
I'm sure
you can find it elsewhere (unless there's some kind copyright
issue...nah, that's just with Former Soviet Composers, right?)

All 3 are published by Faber in one volume in a 1986 edition. Should
be easy to find or order (although I notice Shar doesn't carry it.)

Shar does carry it. I just got up from my desk and went out and
touched the showroom copy. The catalog number for the Faber edition
of the 3 Suites is 3065-110.

Re: Britten

Shar may well carry it, but that hardly guarantees that you'll get
it. I've been waiting a couple of months for music that it claimed
it had in stock (Mozart Divertimento), and have given up waiting for
a reply to a simple e-mail inquiry about bows. You're better off
ordering from cellos2go.com or Frank's in NY.

Re: Britten
Cello Solo Suites
It's not listed on Shar's website. And dang it, I want an untouched
copy. Just kidding!
And as we're on the subject, whatever
happened to the copy of Eine Kleine Nachtmusic you guys said you
were going to mail me when it came in (2 years ago)? I can't believe
it's been out of stock that long.
You know, I love the shar
company, and have been doing business with them for more than 25
years, but the website leaves a lot to be desired. You still can't
specify the guage of the strings you want - every other string
company website offers this feature. Ok, I guess the websites not
that bad, as that's my major complaint.

Hey! Sorry I said anything to help. I'm going to go back to the
I&E board where replies like what I got don't seem to
happen.
Bye.

Sorry...
I didn't mean anything personal. You will note that I mentioned
that I was joking. Geez, lighten up!
For the record, when I
couldn't find the Britten pieces on the web site, I still placed an
order for a bunch of other stuff. And after a bad series of
transactions with one of your competitors, I'll be back for string
orders, even if I have to call in my order to get the right guages.

Obviously it wasn't personal; we don't even know who you are! Your
company's service has steadily deteriorated over the years, but no
one blames you in particular. We hope you'll stay around here.

email me and you can have mine right away. it's beyond my ability
and outside my interest (probably because it's beyond my ability).
