I have a problem
with my bowing...Any advice would be great.
Ok when I am reading music and playing...I often find that when I
am shifing into third fourth or basically just any position that
about 75 percent of the time my bow touches other strings....Like I
will be playing something on the D string, and I will to go to the A
string real quick then back to the D string and I just find that in
the transition my bow hits the A string when I am on the D and the D
when I am on the A, or the D or C when I am on the G....It is kind
of frustrating because it totally clouds up my music....I can play
the notes fine but then I have this problem....Can anyone give me
some advice....Thanks a lot for your time...take car

Are you bowing closer to the bridge when playing in higher
positions? I find this helps me avoid inadvertent double stops. At
least, I *think* that's the problem you're describing. Hope this
helps.

In line with JanJan's thinking, if the bridge is too high (strings
way above the fingerboard), this would exagerate the problem of
strings dipping below the adjacent strings as fingers work their way
to higher positions.
So it may be a matter of
set-up
... or, it may be a matter of practice!

Bowing
problem
Kevin- I've been having the same problem, until my teacher
pointed out that I was bowing with a flat wrist which caused tension
in my bow arm. Try to remember to raise the wrist when playing near
the frog, and flatten it as you move toward the tip. Also make sure
your bow is perpendicular to the bridge on all the strings, that was
another problem I had. It's been hard for me to correct it, but I'm
coming along with it now.
Hope this helps!
