Audition Experience
Hi all-
I just wanted to report
how my audition went in Toronto-in a word, "great"-I didn't even
make it to the second round, but I know I played well. I was really
impressed at how much they heard in the first round-Beethoven 5
(theme and second variation from movement 2), Brahms 2 (theme from
second movement), La Mer(top line of cello quartet), Mozart 40
(development 1st mvt), Verdi Requiem (Offertorio) and Balcony Scene
from Prokofiev Romeo and Juliet, and Variation 2 from Don
Quixote.
There were 18 cellists at the audition and 6 made it to
the semi final round. I left when I found out I wasn't advancing (I
hate sticking around) so I don't even know if they hired
anyone!
Anyway, it's over and I must say it was one of my better
experiences. Thanks, Toronto-on to the next audition!
