sight-reading
In my next entrance-audition for cello at the Musikhochschule (music acadmey) I have to do sight-reading. Has anyone some idea, what I could be asked to play?
Thanks, Anna.

Re: sight-reading
Here in Ireland, sight reading is not an actual piece of music, just sort of.....err......random notes that vaguely resemble a tune :lol . You get about 30 seconds to look at it and then you.....well......play it. The "pieces" usually last about 30 seconds. Hope that helps,
Dave

Yeh, it's the same in Scotland. I think u maybe get about 60 secs to look at it. Usually it won't be too hard, but you have to observe the Italian directions, dynamics etc. All you can do is your best. When I sat my Grade 5 exam, I came out absolutely positive that I had failed the sight reading part, but in actual fact I got 23 marks out of 25 for it.
When you look over it, make sure you take note of the key signiture, and look at all the notes so you have a pretty good idea of what note comes next. Good luck!!!
