In languages..
How do you say "cello" or "cellist" in Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, (Italian I know!) Dutch, etc?

(teaching you to fish, rather than giving you a fish, ya know? :) )

(incidentally, it's the same in all those languages: cello, or violoncello.) They might have other nicknames for it, too, though...

german
In German it`s quite easy:
you say "Cello" for cello and "Cellist" for cellist. One exeption: if it`s a female cellist, you say "Cellistin".

Swedish
It's the same in Swedish, you say "cello" and "cellist". If you want to say "the cello", you say "cellon" and "the cellist" becomes "cellisten".
