Strings and Fine Tuners
I just bought a new string for my cello and it doesn't want to fit in my fine tuner. It's a Thomastik Spirocore tungsten wound. Is this one of those strings that you aren't supposed to use in a fine tuner? I read on another post that some people spred their fine tuner just a bit. Anyone know the best way to do this. I paid a bit for this string and I'd really like to try it out before giving up on it and sending it back.

Thanks

Re: Strings and Fine Tuners
Pinch the windings down by the ball end with some needle nose pliers, just enough to fit the string into your tuner. Don't mess with the tuners just to try out a string.

Re: Strings and Fine Tuners
Hello there. I just purchased my first cello, and it came with four fine tuners. I played cello for nine years in the public school system and never learned anything about this. I waited sixe years to have my own cello, and now that I do, I can't even play it because I don't want to mess anything up. Can someone please explain the process?

Glad to hear you got your own cello. What are you having problems with. I'm not a pro by any means but always willing to help if I can. If I can't there are plenty of people on this board who can.

Welcome
