dusting
cloths
What do other cellists out there use as a dusting cloth for their
instrument? I have one friend who uses a really old t-shirt, and
another friend who uses a cotton felt.
What about you?

Re: dusting

I've used old shirts, hankerchiefs, old underwear, etc. Even
store-bought (or store-gift) cotten cleaning cloths, and even fairly
costly microfiber. But the BEST cleaning cloth (especially for
geting rosin off the strings) continues to be a pale blue cloth I
bought from SHAR a number of years ago. I carry it in my active
violin case, but when I practice it's also right there for use on
viola or cello. Nothing else comes close to comparing.
I've
just ordered some new ones - and can only hope they will be the same
as the original.

Are those Shar's "treated" cleaning cloths, Andy?

Re: dusting

Laura,
They are the 1133U, SHAR Untreated Cloth priced at
$2.15 each. The new ones just arrived Tuesday - and they seem
identical to the "good old one" except that it would appear to have
shrunk by 1 to 2 inch, in the different dimensions over the years I
have had it.
I totally endorse them. Afer all, it would not
make sense to spend money on a "rag" unless it was beter than old
clothes.

ewwww
Old underwear? :P
I have to say if I saw my stand partner
pulling out his old tattered Hanes to clean his cello, I would be
grossed out to the fullest extent
