Duets for Violin/Cello
My roommate and I are looking to play a duet next semester, and we're kinda fishing for some ideas. Basically, we were originally planning on doing some Beethoven (which, of course, would be just fine), but a couple of other pieces got mentioned (a Milhaud and a Sibelius). We'd like to get a good mix of pieces from which to choose (but we can rule out the Ravel RIGHT NOW). Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

One CRAZY idea of ours is for her to play the viola and the two of us do the Eyeglasses duet. She'll be studying viola next semester in addition to her violin, so it's not ALL THAT out there, but it's still rather nutty. Anyway, thanks in advance for any replies!

The two that come to mind are the Kodaly and Bartok. I don't know about difficulty of these pieces though.

Re: Duets for Violin/Cello
Carl Stamitz composed 6 duets for violin and cello, Op. 19, that are not too difficult, but are quite nice to play. They are available an International Edition, cat. no. 1724.

Question about the Pleyel Duets for Sarah
Sarah

How difficult are the Pleyel duets and are they enjoyable to play?

Question about the Pleyel Duets for Sarah
Terry - they're not too difficult to play and enjoyable enuogh, but not particularly interesting musically. I think the Gliere duets are much more interesting.

Duets for Violin / Cello
One can bring a lot of creativity to bear with the Passacaglia by Handel / Halvorsen and the Grand Duo de concert sur deux airs nationaux anglais by Servais & Hubert Leonhard.

Looks like you attend an interesting school with co-ed dorms and all.

Thanks
Thank you for the replies; I'll be sure to check out some of those pieces (I have a LOT of free time this summer, so this'll give me something to do!).

BTW, Peter, I don't live in a dorm at school (our school has co-ed floors, but not co-ed rooms).
