Apocalyptica
Okay, forgive this poor, uninformed new member. Is anyone here a
fan of Apocalyptica?

I think
so...
*raises hand* I'm a sort of lukewarm Apocalyptica fan. I love the
concept of taking yucky rock music and transcribing it onto four
celli, using different effects the cello can make to support that
sound, but since I'm not a fan of Metallica at all, there are lots
of Apocalyptica songs that I just don't like. I haven't bought any
of their three records, and I've only heard a few of them, but I
absolutely love some of thier songs!

Re:

See, that's the problem. Most of my fellow classical musician
friends did not like the Metallica covers until I actually played
them for them. All of their stuff is REALLY good, in their own
special way. I encourage any cellist to listen to their music,
because it's all amazing stuff.

Re:

Yes, you should really get one CD. I think 'Inquisition Symphony'
is the best but I guess you might like 'Cult' better.

Re:

Yes, Inquisition Symphony is the best album, but Cult has more
original tracks (only two Metallica covers). Cult also has a remake
of "In the Hall of the Mountain King," which is just a blast to
listen to.

Re:

Hey, RemRem. Maybe we should get some more EICCA-tiers in here to
help us out!

Rock
cello
BTW to Steve Drake, Eicca Toppinen is the mind of Apocalyptica, she
writes its origional songs and arranges the others. I still don't
know what an EICCA-teir is, though.)
I personally love yucky
rock music; I hate Metallica, because i can't stand an angry guy
yelling to rough electric guitar tones that should be celli.
Here's
a link to some beautiful yucky music; I love it's rough, almost
brutal edge, and distinct, angry energy, dynamic, and trills, and
its simple, direct melody. It's the third song down on this link,
the live version of the title track of Pretty on the Inside:
www.hole.com/audio/index.html
(Be
warned about a few taboo words, though.)But I also love beautiful
rock music; I haven't been able to find any good online things of my
favorite rock songs, many of which have a keyboard set to strings
and would be improved by cello. I I don't have the kind of software
I need to upload those records to the Internet.

If Hole has an 'almost' brutal edge, who do you think has a
'absolute' brutal edge?

So close, no
matter how faaaaaaaarrrr.............
Y'all need some educatin'.
They're all MALES! And an EICCA-tier is a member of my
Apo-cello society, the Extreme International Cool Cellists
Association, EICCA for short, who is a member of the band. Some
people say Eicca is the leader, since he writes all the music
(except for "One," which was done by Max Lilja), but they
continually insist that there is no real leader of the
band.
By the way, if you want to hear a story about the
fabled "fifth member," check out this page I made:

PS
-- If anyone wants to join the EICCA, or just wants more information
on the society, please don't hesitate to e-mail me! mailto:%20chalcyon@gmx.net

By the way, sorry, but I don't like Hole. And I especially don't
like Courtney Love. They're just.... blehh.
