very sticky!
hello!

ive run to a problem, which lies either in my fingers, my strings or the fingerboard. ive got this problem for half years already, and its got worse during last weeks.

the fingerboard or the strings are very sticky, so that it is impossible to shift with relaxed and secure feeling. i noticed the problem when i put new prim strings on my cello last autumn, but i thought it was the new strings. well, now i got new set of pirastro gold, and its getting worse. i clean the strings and fingerboard regularly, since my hands sweat a great deal during playing. the f-board was smoothed a year ago and there is no disturbing gaps. i have no idea what is to be done!

my wife has a cello where i find no problems, and shes got prims on it, so the strings cant be the source of the problem. im going to practise on her cello for a week so that i find out if its my sweat or something (!).

do the luthiers put oil or something to the f-boars after smoothing it? could the f-board be of bad quality? is it possible my sweat can be corroding the f-board? anyone have same problem?

Re: very sticky!
My violinist BF had a problem with this a couple years ago and it turned out that he was somehow getting rosin onhis fingers! His rosin had crumbled a bit and while he was dutifully rosining his bow before he practiced he was also rosining his fingers. It was very odd. It probably isn't the case here, but I thought I'd bring it up just in case.
