Where do you
like to play?
Personally I like outside in the shade under an oak...usually the
bugs don't bother me, but some of my friends preffer near the
fireplace, and one friend likes to play in their barn! (weird, I
tell ya) So where does everyone enjoy playing?

where to
play
I like my parents bathroom. I get a HUGE sound from my instrument
in there. It is great! My parents don't like it, but I do. I also
play in the guest room to give the rest of my family a break from my
"music". I wish I could play outside, but I bet my neighbors would
complain.

Playing outside
:)
Re: neighbors complaining. You might be surprised! I play outside
frequently and have gotten nothing but hopeless gushing from my
(mostly elderly men) neighbors. Recently, walking down to get the
mail, one called to me that I was "just sounding better every day!"
Another man remarked "If you're worrying about bothering the
neighbors, well don't worry! That's my kind of music." That kind of
earnest comment, even from an unknowledgable audience, can really
touch your heart -- and besides, there's nothing like feeling the
warm sun on your face while you play. Go for it!

Re: Playing

I love playing outside, but it's hard to do when your neighbors are
gangstas!
Anyway, I also love to play at my church. The layout of the
sanctuary lets my cello fill the place with sound. And when you're
the only one playing..... oooohhhhh (*shivers*)

Re: Where do you

Um, I play in my bedroom..... I have thought about playing in
the loft upstairs, mainly because my sillhouette against the rich
red walls would make a lovely photograph (epsecially if I were
wearing blue, as I often am. It would add a sense of coolness to the
warm decor, but anyway...).
But I just redecorated my
bedroom, and now have a bigger bed (went from twin to full) so I
might have to explore other options, since the layout probably won't
allow me to move my arms as much as I need to play the
cello.
We don't have any trees in my backyard, so I guess if
I do that it will have to be in full sun. But we also have lots of
butterlies that hang out in my backyard, since my dad purposely
filled the garden with plants that attract butterflies. It might be
nice to practice with them fluttering around. Hmm. I'll have to try
it. (with the practice mute on! I'm
not very good)

Hi, I'm new to this discussion board. Anyhow, I like to play in my
unfinished basemet; I can really pull out a great sound from my
cello down there.

Re: Where do you

Wow, the basement, that sounds like a good idea! BTW, recently my c
string broke, so uh, does anyone know of any music stores or shops
or anything in or near Williamson County Texas? Anyway, I recently
discovered the joys of the "great room" in my house. It's really
big, so I have a lot of room. I also found that if i play really
loud at the top of the driveway, I can make echos because of the way
the neighbors house is.

C-strings
You don't have to buy from a retailer. You can find good strings
for cheap at concordmusic.com/
. Prices there are about 1/2 the retail price.
