Preparing for a
new teacher?
I've done it -- I actually scheduled a one-time lesson with my
college teacher while my current teacher is gone for the summer
(I've been planning to, but I just got off the phone with him - the
lesson is in 3 weeks). I haven't played for him in probably 16
years, and 13 of those years I wasn't playing at all. I've been
taking lessons again for 3 years now. What I'm wanting from him is
1) mid-summer course corrections if I'm developing bad habits, and
2) a boost and encouragement to keep practicing while I don't have
regular lessons, as well as someone else's imput on my
playing.
Now I'm a little panicked - how do I prepare for
something like this? It isn't going to be like a regular lesson with
my regular teacher where it is a continuation of what we were doing
two weeks ago... Please share your thoughts or similar
experiences!
TIA,
Margaret

keep
cool!
It's important to find a topic for yourself, which you want to work
at in this "special" lesson, and you seem to have that topic
already. It's NOT important to impress the teacher for one lesson.
So - keep cool, just play as you play and try to find out as much as
you can! Have fun! Anna
