New Cello Site
in France
There is a new cello site, all in French, which you must visit,
especially for the unique cello photos...
www.levioloncelle.com/
Janos
Starker provided some of the inspiration to get this site off the
ground. They are trying to get the 2003 World Cello Congress, too,
in Paris.

Re: New Cello

We all known that there are a lot of cat-lovers our there (a much
healthier obsession than a certain food fetish I will not mention).
Check out the 'objet favori' at the base of the Paul Bazelaire page.
All together: Aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!
Also good to see that the
ICS is 'ą voir absolument'.

I'm surprised they are trying to get the WCC in '03, given that the
directors have already announced it is to be held at Towson
University in 2006!

Not to mention that the next American Cello Congress in Tempe has
already been announced for June of '03.

Paris, Schmaris
- I'll take Tempe!
Okay, maybe it's not as glamorous as Paris, but Tempe has its
pluses...although for me the biggest is free lodging at Hotel Mom
& Dad, which doesn't really do anyone else much good

Re: Sanders and

I'll be in Paris for a few hours two weeks from tomorrow! I'll get
a great view of the airport and train station. However, I'm sure the
train trip down to the bottom of the country will more than make up
for my limited stay in Paris. I've never been anywhere outside the
US, so this doesn't quite seem real for me yet.
I couldn't go
to my music festival of choice this summer, so I said '@#%$ it, I'm
going to France!'

Re:

This is a reference to one of our favorite Frank Miller stories.
Miller was trying to gently tell a student of his about the rumors
regarding a relationship between a noted conductor and an equally
noted cellist (both male). Miller tried to explain (ever
crescendo-ing in tone): "You know........they
live...together........in an apartment........in New
York!!.........ALONE!!!!!!!!"
(David and I do not share the
inclinations of the aforementioned conductor and cellist.)

Re: France,
French..........
Daniel,
let me give you a hint because it is the first time
you go to France. Especially elder french people are very proud of
their language. Even if you don't speak French at all, it might help
a great deal when you learn to say some sentences in French. Just to
show them that you are interested in their language, and to show
that you try to speak. Even if it doesn't sound perfectly, you will
be treated with much more respect. They consider it a sign of
respect when you try to speak their language because they consider
French not only a means of communication, but an important part of
their culture. If you speak French, forget my mail.
Regards,
Horst
