Vivaldi,
Respighi...
Hi-ho all;
I just picked up Ha-Na Chang's new collection of
cello "poems", as she calls them (as opposed to "novels", or
concertos!), and I was particularly taken by the Adagio con
variazioni by Respighi. Absolutely beautiful. I don't know why more
cellists don't record it. Also on the disc are some chestnuts, but
one or two pleasant surprises. NOt bad at all.
On another
note, I want to know if anyone has music to the cello continuo for
the Vivaldi cello sonatas F. XIV # 1-6. I have the music for cello
and piano, but if anyone knows of where I can get the original
figured bassline or an expansion for the cello continuo I'd be
grateful; my searches have turned up fruitless.

Re: Vivaldi
Sonatas
I have the Peters Edition (Hellman) and it came with cello, piano
and a continuo part. I have had it for at least 25 years so I don't
know if it still comes that way. My Shar sheet music catalog still
lists a Peters Edition as available for $26.
Hope this
helps.

Re: Vivaldi
Sonatas
I have the Peters edition as well and it is simply a repetition of
the piano (harpsichord) baseline. I guess the accomplished continuo
player was expected to extemporize their own interpretation of the
continuo part. I do not have it in front of me, but I don't think it
has a figured bass written in.
