I don't remember my first performance, but I do remember trying to hide at the Suzuki recitals. One time I actually tried to hide between the rows of chairs in the auditorium. I was surprised when my sister's violin teacher found me and asked me why I wasn't on stage ("How did he find me?!"). Of course, a chunky little kid in a bright red Suzuki t-shirt hunkering down between the chairs would seem a bit suspicious. :)
