Five hours per week extra really isn't much. Just one hour per weekday, after all. When you think of the time you will spend doing music DURING school instead of afterschool, that extra 5 hours is probably insignificant.

Speaking for myself, I can say that I am always green with envy when I hear about others getting the opportunity to go to Arts high schools. I never had that option, nor did any of my students because there were no such schools where I grew up or where I worked later. However, that doesn't mean it would be right for you, as others have said, only you can make that decision. Please don't take this opportunity for granted though, there are so many students who will never have the choice you have before you.

I have many friends who have attended various performing arts high schools in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and all of them loved it. If you did go to the arts school, and you found out you hated it, you could probably transfer to a regular high school pretty easily.

Just some things to think about. You know what they say...when opportunity knocks...
