In my limited orchestra experience, even here in the
states in youth orchestras, the sections have always
been so diverse. My school is a plethora of nationalities.
You can walk through the cafeteria and hear 20+ languages
being spoken. It's great.

One of the schools I was accepted to but declined was
a favorite of mine, until I visited the campus. It was
like going to the palace of the WASPs or something. Very
disconcerting for me. I didn't think I could stand spending
four years in a place where diversity was thought of as
9% minority/international.

One of the local radio stations has a concert ticket
give-away (don't get excited, it's for a Smashing Pumpkins
concert - I like 'em). You have to be in high school
and tell them on the air what you can do to X out the hate.
I told them my efforts at recruiting for the music program
at school. It's a wonderful thing.
