I have had a very fine mail order relationship with Peg Baumgartel, who now lives in New Jersey. She was Paul Siefried's associate when he had his shop in Los Angeles. When Paul moved to the Seattle area, Peg maintained the shop, but has since moved to N.J. to be closer to her ailing parents. Her phone is (609) 693-5717, and the address is: 20 One Eye Way, Waretown, NJ, 08758 (all the streets were named after things in Treasure Island, and Peg told me she had a chance to buy a house on Pegleg Way, but found that a bit too weird!)

The reason I send my bows all the way across the country is that I feel safer having someone as professionally competant and knowledgeable as Peg or Paul work on them. There are people in Salt Lake who rehair bows, but no bow makers, and certainly no one of their knowledge or skill. A well packed bow (I use PVC pipe with bubble wrap to keep the bow(s) from moving inside the tube, and put the tube in a triangular shipping box), sent by overnight mail, is a very safe way to get them to Peg or Paul, and I feel safer having it in their hands despite the mailing hassle and additional expense.

Ryan
