It may be an American thing, but I grew up in a scandinavian town and heard the story/poem alot. We had swedes, finns, norwegians, and a lot of friendly rivalry. I don't remember the story but just saying the last sentence brings a knowing laugh from most norwegians.
The town is at the mouth of the Columbia river in Oregon. An old joke asks why the Columbia is like a fish? Because...... it has finns on both sides.
