I havnt played it yet but it is one of my favorite pieces composed for the cello...
Aparently he wrote the first movement after a terrible row he had with his wife, aafter which he got thrown out of the house, the theory is that the sonata is somewhat an apologie...
Has anyone else ever heard this story? Does anyone know if the apologie worked, and so on?
