I assume you are making an oblique reference to the MD of the CSO, guy with intitals of DB. When I was first playing professionally, in the section of the LA Phil, Danny was a guest soloist several times, being good buddies with Zubin. Then Zubin invited him to conduct. His Brahms 4th was a musical experience I will never forget. He decided to "teach" the work to the orchestra as if we had never seen it before. The opening could best be compared to a car that has stalled and has to be pushed over the crest of a hill to gather enough momentum to keep going on the downhill. Taaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaadddddaaaaaaaaaa, taaaaaaaddddaaaaaa, taaddaaaaaaa, taaddaaaa, etc. He never did get the orchestra to understand and follow his beat at the start. We basically ignored him and played Brahms the best we could. Has anything changed?

Ryan
