Interesting. A few years ago I heard a live performance of the Rotterdam Philharmonic playing the Brahms 2nd. I think the conductor was Haitink and I recall being astonished when the announcer stated that it was the Rotterdam. Apparently, the concert was the 50th Anniversary of the bombing of that city. The music was intense. DG
